Bold & Beautiful Shaker
The client approached Steven Andrews Bespoke through their appointed architect Hudson Architects based locally in Oxfordshire. Their brief was to explore options to bring the internal space up to date and create better flow from the front of the house to the rear. The brief for the internal space was to open up the current kitchen by knocking out a large dividing wall connecting the kitchen at the front of the house to a less purposeful room at the back of the house. Doing so resulted in a vast open Kitchen, living and dining room that is beautifully spacious and practical for the client and their guests.
At the beginning of the project the kitchen was redesigned in it's existing position at the front of the house, however after careful consideration the decision to completely change the format of the space was explored. Hudson architects cleverly repositoned the entry point to the kitchen allowing for better access and a fundamentally better design of the space as a whole.
Steven Andrews Bespoke was tasked with creating a classic kitchen design with an Aga at it's heart. By following the existing wall shape on the east side of the property, it was possible to maximise the potential of the space and hide the larger tall furniture from view in the living area, leaving enough space for a perfectly proportioned island, facilitating further storage, worktop space and casual breakfast bar seating.
Traditional cabinet making techniques, solid hardwood and birch plywood were combined by Steven Andrews Bespoke fine furniture craftsman to ensure the longevity of the kitchen and all its funtional features. The colour scheme of Farrow and Ball's Drop Cloth and Downpipe creates a wonderful contrast and highlights the island as a focal point. The client was delighted with the final result, we hope you like it too.
